January 2007: New Buldings in Ranger Group

By the 1st half of this year the works for the realization of the new building of 2.000 sqm, in Carate Brianza plant (Ranger Italy headquarter) and of the new office house in Hörgertshausen (Ranger Deutschland) will be concluded.

And it's not all.
During 2007 Ranger expects to enlarge the storehouse in Carate Brianza, because it is valuing the project for an automated warehouse with stacker-cranes in Ranger headquarter. Ranger is growing also in Spain, in Ourensé area near Vigo city; we have acquired a building that will be dedicated to the assembly of a new innovative part for the Spanish market. Finally on 30th January 2007 there will be a ceremony celebrating the start of the works for the realization of the new Ranger China plant in Jiading area.

October 2006 -RANGER S.p.A a 2006 Europe's 500 winner Outstanding employment growth earns RANGER No. 48 place on 2006 Europe's 500 Listing

Ranger Company, of Carate Brianza (Milan) the specialist in the production of plastic items with particular expertise in the Automotive and Truck Industry, today announced that it has been listed No. 48 (fourth Company in Italy, second Company last year and first Italian Company in the 2004!) among the fastest growing European companies included in the 2006 Europe's 500Listing,the annual ranking of high growth, job-creating companies published by Europe's 500 - Entrepreneurs for Growth and supported by Microsoft and KPMG. 

Altogether, these 500 dynamic, entrepreneurial-driven winning companies have managed to sustain growth since 2002, boosting employment at an impressive average annual rate of 16% and sales at 18%. Despite the challenging business environment, these champions of growth have created nearly 150,000 jobs across Europe in three years. On average each company has created 99 new jobs per year and increased sales by 25 million euros per year. Ranger has increased employment by 210,9%, and turnover by 240,7%, adding 599 new jobs in three years (2002-2005).
The 2006 Listing saw the emergence of winners from many of the new EU member states for the first time: Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Slovenia - all new qualifiers to the Listing this year, joined the Czech Republic which was listed for the first time in 2005. However, the high ranking of companies from France and Germany show that job growth is still possible in challenging economic conditions and all the winning companies demonstrate the essential qualities needed if the European Council's Lisbon strategy for jobs and growth is to be met.

Companies like Ranger grow fast and manage to sustain their growth, making them excellent role models for Europe's future. They can also be successful in any business sector, whether traditional manufacturing or high-tech industry. 

The IT sector once again dominates this year's ranking with 150 companies (30%) but manufacturing also remains consistently high with 26% and services account for 18%. Ranger is one of 29 companies (5,8%) in the Automotive, Manufacturing sector who managed to qualify for Europe's 500.

TORONTO 2006 MILANO MADE IN DESIGN.with Ranger Maquette.

Ranger car's prototype, called "Maquette" is ready to start another adventure.
After the great exhibition "Milano Made in Design" www.madeindesign.it (from 19 May to 10 June 2006) at the "Miki Gallery" in New York

City, our Maquette will be shown in Toronto at the "Design Exchange" www.dx.org from September 22 to November 12 2006.

We are very proud that Ranger know how for plastic body panels, expressed through the Maquette, has been chosen as the exhibition element of contemporary design.

Ranger Maquette is doing the world tour because after the stop in Toronto in the Spring 2007 Milano Made in Design Exhibition will move to Pechino and Shaghai.

RANGER AT CHINA COMPOSITES EXPO, SHANGHAI     
 

Ranger will join from September 4 to 6, 2006 another important Chinese International Exhibition: "China Composites Expo" www.chinacompositesexpo.com

The CCExpo 2006 is the largest trade show in Composites in Asia and will bring us the opportunities to promote our business in Asia and particularly in China.

We want to carry out our experience and know-how in composite products, following our last challenge: the new Company Ranger Shanghai LTD, officially incorporated on the 24th July 2006.

The venue is the 3rd /4th floor of Shanghai Mart located at number 2299 Yan An West Road.

On the 10th April 2006 Ranger signed the purchasing contract of a land of 10.000 m² in China, Shanghai, with a purchase option contract for a close land of other 10.000 m².

The area where Ranger Shanghai will be established is based in the northwest zone of Shanghai, 35 km far from the city centre; the overall size of this industrial area is about 32,4 km².

The reason way Ranger decided to establish the new plant in this development zone has to be referred to the fact that "Jading" will be leader as strategic industrial area compared with the others; there are already 300 investment projects from 20 countries that means a turnover of 7 milliards $.

The building of the new plant will start in September 2006.
The first building plot will have an area of 6.000 m², 5.000 m² dedicated to the production.

RANGER SHANGHAI LTD, the name has been already approved, has been officially incorporated on the 24th July 2006.

The production activity will start in the middle of the year 2007.

In China there are more that 3000 Companies involved in the composite materials market, only 30 in the automotive field, with a low technological level.
Moreover the 70% of these could not satisfy the growing requests of the Chinese market.
In the 2005 the Chinese automotive market produced 6.000.000 units, becoming the third world manufacturer.
In the 2006 the sells in the trucks field come to 350.000 units, with a real prospect of growing prospects.

Our aim, through this new Ranger Company, is to carry out our experience and know-how in the automotive and trucks fields but that's not all.
The Chinese market, as far as the composite materials is concerned, is developing fast and Ranger wants to open up its own horizons also in other fields.
The actual Ranger team, dedicated to the China project, is made up of six employees, four of whom are Chinese mother tongue.

Ranger is always looking for new applications in plastics.

We believe that nanotechnology contributes to give some advantages in plastics today, and will bring even more advantages in the future.

The next technological frontiers, without no doubts, will be nanotechnologies and nanocomposite.
In this new "world" of application polymer nanocomposites are a new class of materials with a great deal of future promise for potential applications as high-performance materials.

Beside traditional polymer composite (fiber reinforced: carbon fiber, glass fiber, nylon etc.) nanocomposites promised to become the most versatile industrial advanced materials.
For this reason polymeric nanocomposites (PNCs) have been a cult research area for the past 20 years.

To know better this new "world" Ranger S.p.A. has organized a conference on "Nanotechnologies and Nanocomposite"

The event took place May 23rd 2006 and the speaker was Prof. Josè Kenny - Perugia University.

The aim of the seminary was to introduce and explain this new plastic materials technology.

Here the agenda of the workshop:

• What are nanotechnologies.
• What are nanocomposite.
• Technologies used for the production of parts in nanocomposite.
• Developments of nanocomposite.
• When we could consider nanocomposite as industrial parts.

In the mean time Ranger is doing several work in R&D using nanotechnology, especially testing raw material already compounded with nanofiller like HMD materials from GE but also activity of in house compounding of technopolymer with nanoclay. 
This to better understand not only the moulding and new performances of these materials but also how the compounding influence the property of these new generation of "composite".

So Ranger will approach nanotechnology and nanocomposite world as protagonist for the future!

Ranger wants to show some of the most innovative composites products in the automotive sector; this exhibition follows our future strategy for China market, where all the main car and truck manufacturers are moving.

The aim of this exhibition is to make the Italian design, particularly the objects that come from Milan and his nearest area called Brianza, known abroad; especially in USA where there is a great request for Italian products.

The gallery space is prepared as a creative factory where the objects surround the visitors, coming up from the floor and hanging down from ceiling. The space become absolutely moved and anti-conventional.

Studio Azzurro realized some interesting interviews where well-known designers talk about their work.
This exhibition will follow an itinerary all over the world, from Canada to Asia, and in autumn will stop in Milan for a great show.

This event was realized with the aid of:  Provincia di Milano, Camera di commercio di Milano, Corriere della Sera, Pirelli, Macef, Milano Serravalle - Tangenziali, Regione Lombardia, Fondazione 3M and Fondazione Cariplo.

THE NEW ADVENTURE: ORGANIKGLASST Plastic Glazing Solution

Since the middle of 2005 a new division of Ranger R&D department is located in Carate Brianza (MI) and it is dedicated to plastic glazing technology.
The trademark for all productions is OrganikglassT.

Plastic glazing allows to produce windows and transparent body panel with great benefits in terms of freedom in design and style, weight saving, function integration. The combination of an Engel machine and a hardcoating line (engineered by Ranger) makes OrganikglassT able to provide parts with the best optical quality possible.

The press machine has two opposite injection units,
horizontal rotary table, active control of parallelism
and capability of moulding by injection-compression .

Next to the moulding area, in clean-room conditions, there is the plant for the surface treatment of the polycarbonate parts, in order to give UV-protection and scratch resistance; the coatings are applied by flow-coating. The application is carried out in an extremely controlled line from the point of view of the three critical application parameters: temperature, relative humidity and air cleaning (the OrganikglassT installation has a Class 100 filtration, without operators in the application area). The laboratory of Ranger has been updated allowing all the tests on plastic glazing parts to be made in-house.

Polycarbonate weighs much less compared to glass, therefore vehicle consumption diminishes and barycenter of the car is lower. Plastic allows to produce, for example, wrap-around lateral panels, which integrate lights, or aerodynamic appendices and spoilers made directly out of the backlights. What's more, PC has got a very high shock resistance, consequently a plastic glazing can resist to shocks much better and grants a higher safety.

Ranger has joined from March 28 to 30 at Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles, the JEC COMPOSITE SHOW 2006 (www.jeccomposites.com) , a worldwide exhibition that promotes the use of composite materials.

JEC Composites Show 2006 target is to find out solution into the composite material field to satisfy and improve the quality of the materials as well as the possibility to introduce composites to innovate and integrate most of the products parts of our daily life. 

Ranger wants to be the best solution for the Customer that develops new concept using plastic materials; for this reason we are very satisfied of the results of the show.
We have created new contacts and received also a lot of important visitors at our booth, compared with the last edition.

We are very happy, based on the above, that most of the attention of the potential Customers has been focused on the Glazing application - the new technology developed by Ranger - (more details on "latest news" and the section R&D - Organikglass T: the new adventure ).
